Custom ColdFusion intranet modernized into a secure WordPress staff portal with Microsoft Entra single sign-on

LAS VEGAS, NV — July 3, 2026 — WordHerd, a WordPress migration and development agency specializing in complex CMS and legacy platform migrations, has completed the rebuild and migration of the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District’s Voyager intranet from a custom ColdFusion system to a modern WordPress intranet solution.

The project focused on modernizing the Library District’s internal staff portal while improving usability, maintainability, accessibility, and secure access. The new WordPress-based intranet provides a more flexible foundation for internal communication, document access, department updates, staff resources, and ongoing content management.

The previous intranet was built on a custom ColdFusion platform that had served the organization for many years. As internal communication needs evolved, the Library District required a more modern and manageable solution that would allow staff and departments to maintain content more efficiently while providing a better experience across devices.

WordHerd rebuilt the intranet in WordPress using a structured content architecture tailored for internal use. The solution includes secure staff access, role-based permissions, department-focused content areas, internal news and announcements, organized document resources, staff directory features, event calendar support, and improved search and filtering tools.

As part of the project, WordHerd also integrated Microsoft Entra single sign-on, allowing staff to access the intranet using their existing organizational credentials. This integration helps streamline the login experience, reduce the need for separate account management, and align intranet access with the Library District’s existing identity and access management practices.

“Legacy intranets often become difficult to maintain over time, especially when they were built on custom systems that require specialized technical knowledge,” said Kris Hadlock, President and CTO of WordHerd. “This project gave the Library District a more flexible WordPress foundation that supports secure access, easier content management, and a better long-term experience for staff.”

Because the platform is an internal staff resource, WordHerd approached the project with a focus on privacy, security, and discretion. The rebuild emphasized high-level functionality and maintainability without exposing sensitive internal systems or operational details.

The completed WordPress intranet gives the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District a scalable internal platform designed to support staff communication, departmental collaboration, resource management, and future growth.
