IMPORTANT UPDATE: ADOBE BUSINESS CATALYST END OF LIFE EXTENDED DUE TO COVID-19. READ MORE HERE:

BUSINESS CATALYST UPDATE

On March 18, 2018, Adobe announced that as of March 26, 2021 it will stop hosting all sites on Adobe Business Catalyst. This includes all trial sites, paid sites, and partner sites. Adobe will retain your content until that date, after which your data will be permanently deleted. Although March 2021 seems like far away, it’s really not. You should start planning today for a smooth transition tomorrow. Your content is too important, too mission-critical. Do not leave this transition to chance.

At WordHerd we specialize in migrating content from numerous Content Management Systems (CMS) to WordPress. WordPress is a one of the most powerful blogging and website content management systems available on the market, and a dependable alternative to Business Catalyst. As with all content migration projects, the WordHerd process thoroughly maps all of your data from Business Catalyst to WordPress to ensure that no valuable data is loss.

While there are many CMS platforms on the market, we strongly recommend WordPress for a number of important reasons:

Cost

Other than paying for web hosting, WordPress is FREE.

A free CMS platform allows you to invest the money you’ve saved so you can partner with an experienced agency to create a custom theme or match your existing. Custom theme development and theme matching are services that WordHerd provides; our goal is to align the look and feel of your site with your business objectives.

Community

WordPress is an open source platform and has a large community that contributes code to the project and provides support, should you ever need it. In fact, tens of thousands of talented people have made contributions to WordPress. A core team of developers manage the project, but anyone can contribute code, request features, and report bugs.

Look and Feel

The WordPress community has developed thousands of free and premium themes that you can use to get your site looking just the way you want it to look. Whether you desire a more lightweight, simple theme or prefer a theme that is pre-populated with images and content, applying a theme to your content can take just a few minutes.

Establishing the look and feel of your site’s user interface is one of the most important areas to consider when we work together to design your site. We offer custom theme development and theme matching that goes above and beyond any off-the-shelf theme you can apply. Our clients who take the time now to make custom user interface design decisions reap the benefits of higher user engagement and conversions.

Functionality

As with themes, the WordPress community has developed thousands of plugins that help you make the site work exactly as you’d like it to. If you require a feature, there’s mostly likely a plugin available. There are plugins for forms, search engine optimization (SEO), eCommerce, caching, marketing automation tools like Sharpspring, just to name a few. For more information about WordPress plugins, see the WordPress Plugin Library.

Security

With WordPress, security is job #1. WordPress includes an auto-update feature that automatically applies updates to address security vulnerabilities. You can also manually choose to make update by simply clicking a checkbox next to the plugins or themes to update. To take things a step further you can sign up for a service such as WordSecured, which will monitor your website activity remotely and take care of potential security threats immediately. In addition to monitoring, this service also handles keeping your WordPress plugins updated.

User Friendly

WordPress is easy to use. Installation takes only a few minutes and there is ample documentation available to get you started. You don’t need to be a web developer or even know HTML or CSS to create and maintain a site. The WordPress user interface is intuitive and features logically organized menus. It is truly an open-source CMS for the masses!

SEO

WordPress is SEO friendly and ensures that the code it generates follows SEO best practices. As a result, WordPress sites tend to rank well on Google. In addition, WordPress includes SEO-specific features that enable you to customize meta-data for each page, and uses a simple framework and link structure that increases site load speed and makes your site’s pages easy to find, index, and rank.
